📖Core academic material

Rhetoric is the study and practice of effective communication. Originating in Ancient Greece, it was considered a vital skill for citizens to engage in public life. In Year 9 English, we move beyond simple expression to intentional persuasion.

Aristotle identified three main pillars of persuasion: 1. Ethos: The credibility of the speaker. 2. Pathos: The emotional connection with the audience. 3. Logos: The logical consistency of the argument.

Understanding these allows us to communicate more effectively and to be discerning consumers of information.
